A bit about mascot, etc.

In India the mascot I spoke of earlier goes by a very familiar name Ganesha. He has many other names: Vinayaka, Ganapati, Pillaiyar, Gajanan, and so on. There may a poem with 1008 names of him. This is a hobby in India, calling a person you love with 1008 names; good names of course. In other countries I think they tatoo.

My mascot goes by other names and other masks in other countries. Maybe he is called a lucky black cat somewhere. A santa claus elsewhere. A cross will work at some places. Must be many, many more, these muses and mascots.

My mascot I called upon when starting my blogs. I have been doing not too bad. So I trust him still. This is just to keep in touch.

With best wishes to all,

My Friend, My Muse, My Mascot

I have a steady friend whom I must have first met in a dream. I seem to have known him since I was so small, so it must have been a dream first meet. He seemed to be wearing a lovely elephant mask. Afterwards I used to see him at countless street corners as well as many beautiful natural haunts.
I was told that to see him before exams brings you good luck. Some tried and swear to its truthfulness. Some others confided that it put them in better frame of mind when writing exams if they had seen him beforehand. Many treated him as their innocent but cute and adorable kid brother, with whom they can have fun, can confide their most shameful secrets as well as their innermost cravings. They never expected him to make their wishes to come true. But when they found their desires getting fulfilled they began to fear him a bit. They started to keep away from him for some time, and then trying to bribe him at special occasions, so as to cover it up.
I have not yet sorted him out. Yet, why should I run foul with him and invite him to get in my way? So far we seem to be going well together, he had always been in good mood with me, or so it seems. So I ask thee, my dear mascot, be a good sport. We are trying to get up one hundred plus blogs or websites that would do good to us and to as many folks from as many places as possible. So let’s wish each other well.

Ganesha and the Cat

Jai Ganesha !
Once in heaven, Boy Ganesha
Scratched a cat in play
Mother's chamber, entered he
Was shocked at the sight that lay
Thick with bloody scratches
Was his mother's fair face
`Who dared hurt thee, Mother ?'
Thundered he, enraged.
`Thine own hands has done that child!'
She said with a sweet smile,
`For, it's I indeed that dwell in
That cat, in all earth's life'.
Enlightened Ganesha saw
His mother in every creature
That is why he remains to this day
Unwed, and wise in stature.
Pray we, for the full wisdom
That shines in His elephantine face
May He hear with His big ears
Prayers in all our case
May His exploring heavy trunks
Dig us out of our troubles
May His stable pot belly
Digest all our foibles
May He crush the troubles `fore us
And lead us in the jungle path
To His, our Mother's abode
That lies within our heart !
